America; the lonely roads, the interstates, the thriving cities & the places in between. As seen through the eyes of an Australian girl.

The Mississippi River, November 2004
My first ever sighting of the mighty Mississippi will stay with me forever. As my plan flew into the crescent city I was mesmerized by the beauty of the sun setting over the wetlands. The seemingly endless network of swamps and bayous as far as the eye can see. The only time I request a window seat is when flying into New Orleans, the land is constantly shifting, the river fighting the Gulf Stream, the swamp taking over the land. One of the most unique and beautiful Eco systems in the world. No matter how tired or hungover I am, I always take in the view as my plane descends. It’s one thing we can’t take for granted as we don’t know how long it will be here.
